The Sergeant is a 1968 American drama film directed by John Flynn in his directorial debut, and starring Rod Steiger, John Phillip Law, and Ludmila Mikaël. The screenplay by Dennis Murphy is based on his 1958 novel. The film is about a decorated US Army war veteran (Steiger), whose disciplined life is disrupted by his repressed homosexuality towards one of his subordinates (Law).
