Starring Robert Stephens as Holmes and Colin Blakely as Doctor Watson, the film offers an affectionate, slightly parodic look at Sherlock Holmes, and draws a distinction between the "real" Holmes and the character portrayed by Watson in his stories for The Strand magazine.
