It is an adaptation of the 1981 film of the same name, which was written and directed by Alan Alda, who has a guest role in the series. The series premiered on Netflix on May 1, 2025. In May 2025, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on May 28, 2026. In June 2026, the series was renewed for a third season.
