Reign of Terror (reissued as The Black Book) is a 1949 American spy thriller film directed by Anthony Mann and starring Robert Cummings, Richard Basehart, Arlene Dahl, Richard Hart, Arnold Moss, Norman Lloyd and Beulah Bondi. The film is set during the French Revolution. Plotters seek to bring down Maximilien Robespierre and end his bloodthirsty Reign of Terror. Exiled to Austria, former French military commander the Marquis de Lafayette (Wilton Graff) orders Charles D'Aubigny (Robert Cummings) to destroy the impending dictatorship of the bloodthirsty Robespierre (Richard Basehart) by assuming
