Shoulder Arms is a silent comedy adventure war romance film. Charlie Chaplin is a boot camp doughboy who has a dream of being a war hero who goes on a daring mission behind enemy lines. This film was first released on October 20, 1918 and was re-issued from about 1927 into the early 1930s. This is not a new version Chaplin had made, but rather the original film with redesigned inter-titles and an updated main title. It also used some alternate takes for some scenes and had other sequences shortened or omitted via distribution edits.
