Sherlock Holmes Douglas Wilmer & Nigel Stock (1965)
The pilot & first season of the BBC's TV series adaptations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes . Starring Douglas Wilmer as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Stock as Dr. John Watson. This season spawned a second season in 1968, which was in color and featured Nigel Stock returning as Watson, but with a recast Peter Cushing in the role of Holmes. This series is considered the first to in large part faithfully adapt Doyle's stories into their own episodes before the development of Granada's top-tier adaptations starring Jeremy Brett.
