Pour Don Carlos (1921)
Directed by Jacques Lasseyne and Musidora. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Pierre Benoît. Hard-coded Spanish subtitles. In 1875, a young sub-prefect in the Basses-Pyrénées finds himself unwillingly caught up in the rivalries between the ruling powers and the supporters of Don Carlos, the pretender to the Spanish throne. He falls into a trap set by Allegria Petchart, a leading figure in the Carlist insurgency. Seduced by the woman's strength of conviction and her cause, he eventually rallies the rebel camp and joins them in the struggle.
