Adam, un tanar pescar sarac, o iubeste pe Uliana, dar parintii fetei doresc sa o marite cu Simion, fiul unui carciumar. Pentru a-l indeparta, Simion il invinovateste de uciderea tovarasilor cu care iesise in larg in timpul unei furtuni. Dupa ani de inchisoare si dupa terminare razboiului, Adam se intoarce in satul natal si ajunge responsabil pe un vas pescaresc.
