O filme é estrelado por Ray Milland, Ruth Hussey e Donald Crisp, e apresenta Gail Russell. O enredo segue um irmão e uma irmã que compram uma casa na Cornualha, atormentada por eventos paranormais. Embora ambientado na Inglaterra, "The Uninvited" foi filmado nos estúdios da Paramount em Hollywood, bem como em locações em San Francisco e Phoenix, Arizona, em 1943.
