In this silent film, a city of the future is threatened with destruction when a wealthy corporate leader enlists a mad scientist to put down labor reformers. Impressive restoration and music. In the future, in the million-acre city of Metropolis, wealthy industrialists and business tycoons, along with their top employees, rule from skyscrapers ranging from 50 to 1,000 stories, while underground workers toil to operate the great machines that power the city. Joh Fredersen is the city's ruler.
