"Hunde, wollt ihr ewig leben" (translated as "Dogs, Do You Want to Live Forever?" ) is a German war film from 1959 , directed by Peter M. Krüger . The film is based on the novel of the same name by M. A. Roth and deals with the experiences of a German soldier unit during World War II. The story follows Lieutenant Gerd Wisse, played by Joachim Hansen , as he navigates the chaos and brutality of the Stalingrad battle in 1942. Throughout the film, Wisse faces the grim realities of warfare, grappling with the ideologies that drive soldiers like him.
