Robinson, Susan Hayward, Richard Conte, Luther Adler, Paul Valentine and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. in his film debut. It is based on Jerome Weidman's 1941 novel I'll Never Go There Any More, which in turn is inspired by William Shakespeare's play King Lear.
